The Whole School Joins in Environmental Protection: Mends the Sky – Action Praise!

(I) Starting to Collect Point Cards

We were busy in the classroom finalizing the collection point cards everyone had worked so hard to gather, and carefully packing the winning "Little Divine Robe Omamori" amulets for each class. This is more than just a prize; it's a blessing for protecting the environment.

(II) Lottery
We sorted the collection point cards that were put into the lottery box and filed them according to class.

The collected point cards were first organized by class. Then, based on the number of cards submitted by each class, Omamori were distributed proportionally to ensure that someone from each class was selected.

(III) Distributing Omamori to Each Class

Classroom Introduction: The Ludong Elementary School Sky-Mending Team personally visited each classroom to explain the meaning of the stamps on the Omamori (Little Divine Robe amulet + Jian Dui) to the students. They explained that the Omamori connects with Lukang's traditional crafts and our commitment to "Mends the Sky."

Award Ceremony: When we presented Omamori to the whole school or in the classroom, the proud expressions on the faces of the award-winning students proved that "environmental protection" can be a cool and honorable thing.

(IV) Environmentally Friendly Actions

"10 Environmentally Friendly Activities" on Campus

We carefully observed how students implemented the 10 actions on their collection point cards and found that everyone had made significant changes in their lives:

1. Energy Conservation: The class's little platoon leader proactively checks if the corridor lights are off after class.

2. Using Environmentally Friendly Items: More and more students are bringing their own reusable bags and water bottles.

3. Reduce the use of disposable items: Everyone washes their lunchboxes thoroughly after use.

4. Reduce the use of electrical appliances: Don't use electric fans in winter.

5. Energy Conservation: Use electrical appliances only when necessary, and conserve energy when appropriate.

6. No Littering: Pick up any litter you see in the classroom or hallways.

7. Replace Purchases with Repairs: The bag handles were a little loose, but instead of clamoring for new ones, students tried to repair them with tape.

8. A Variety of Plants: The corridors of each classroom now have more small green potted plants, making the air feel fresher.

9. Eat Less Processed Food: A zero-waste lunch is the best guarantee of nutrition.

10. Refuse to use plastic products: During lunchtime, everyone started refusing to use disposable plastic straws and bags.

This activity taught us the power of "transformation." We transformed the "Nuwa Mends the Sky," originally just a story, into everyday actions like turning off lights and recycling paper. We made culture more than just words in books; it became a part of school life.

Preparing and distributing the collect point cards to each class was tedious, but seeing everyone diligently collecting stamps for "Mends the Sky" filled me with a great sense of accomplishment. Especially when the broadcast recording echoed across the campus, I truly felt we were doing something impactful.

From respecting teachers to environmental protection, we understand that the spirit of "patching the hole" is "responsibility." Teachers are responsible for us, and we must also be responsible for the damaged Earth's environment.
